Since 1938, WatersEdge has been defined by the people behind the counter. We’re more than a shop. We’re your year-round neighbors on the edge of Lake Superior. Our approach to service is straightforward: we want you to find a fit that works, looks good, and keeps you comfortable. We’ll always encourage you to try on the boots, test out the clothing sizes, and take your time browsing.

Hans Krengel
Owner & Manager
Hans grew up learning the retail ropes from his Dad before taking over WatersEdge in 2017. He focuses on the big picture of keeping things running while staying deeply involved in the daily floor work. On any given day, you’ll find him working with our vendors, ordering items, and helping folks find the right gear at the counter.
You can find him chasing his three kids with his wife around the North Shore when he’s not at the store.
Nick Spriggs
Co-Manager
Nick is excited to share his love of the outdoors, offering over 18 years of experience in outdoor education and recreation to help you pick the right gear. He keeps the store floor organized, fresh, and moving seamlessly. He handles the heavy lifting of day-to-day operations, making sure you have an incredible customer experience.
Nick enjoys spending time exploring the shore with friends, family, and his dog Pico outside of work.
